Maintenance Mechanic

  • A metals manufacturer in Oak Lawn, IL is seeking several skilled Maintenance Mechanics to ensure the proper maintenance of newly invested equipment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical maintenance failures.
  • Identify and repair equipment failures, replace defective items, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to dismantle, rebuild, and reassemble machinery.
  • Perform pipe repairs and replacements using pipe fitting tools.
  • Repair and troubleshoot electrical equipment including motors, switches, and lighting.
  • Fabricate and repair parts using machine shop and metalworking tools such as drill presses, saws, and grinders.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance services on various equipment to company standards.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting and maintenance repairs to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Meet safety, quality, cost, and customer care objectives set by the plant.
  • Follow safety regulations and actively participate in safety meetings to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements:

  • AAS degree, maintenance certification, or equivalent training and experience in maintenance (4+ years).
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical manufacturing maintenance troubleshooting experience.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance role is preferred, particularly in metal or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and willing to work over 10 hours of overtime per week, including Saturdays.
  • Proficient in mechanical troubleshooting, including hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, belts, chains, and various equipment.

Preferred (not required)

  • Knowledge of welding techniques such as Mig, Tig, Oxy, Acc, Brazing, and SMAW.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience using preventative maintenance systems like SAP or CMMS.
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
