Junior RF Engineer
Job Summary
We are currently seeking an RF Engineer to join our team in Boulder, CO. As a Junior RF Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding customer requirements, designing prototypes, and building products with a focus on creativity and attention to detail. This position does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job is based in a professional office and laboratory environment. Standard office equipment like laptops and photocopiers, as well as specialized test equipment such as vector network analyzers, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers, are commonly used in this role.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are also necessary. Some physical activities, such as lifting lab equipment, opening cabinets, and using a stool, may be required. Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a U.S. security clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's degree is a plus)
- Experience working with RF devices and networks, such as amplifiers, attenuators, phase shifters, and mixers
- Knowledge of RF signal budget analysis for system metrics like gain, noise figure, and power
- Strong analytical and hardware troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in a technical programming language such as Matlab or Python
- Ability to use RF test equipment, including network analyzers and spectrum analyzers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to peers, management, and customers
- Experience with printed circuit board layout and assembly
- Desire to tackle new and challenging problems
- Comfortable working in a lab environment
- Ability to adapt and learn from failures
Preferred Education and Experience
- Proven ability to contribute to multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Previous experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and board layout
- Experience with front-end design for radar or software-defined radios (SDR)
- Knowledge of antenna design and testing
- Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools like HFSS, FEKO, CST, or Microwave Office
