Intermediate Automation/Controls Engineer

Location: Alliance, OH
Automation/Controls Engineer (Level 2)
 
Identify and resolve issues, using tools and computer-based systems to contribute to the continuous improvement problem-solving process, aiming to reduce variation and enhance reliability.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Design, implement, and test modifications to the Steel Mill Process (software, databases, servers, and HMI systems).
Ensure and optimize the availability, performance, and quality of Steel Mill Process Line Level 2 systems.
Perform automated backup strategy for Level 2 application servers and data servers.
Support and develop web pages and database tables.
Conduct server hardware upgrades.
Maintain catalog and organize all server software and licenses.
Assist in HMI changes (as needed).
Provide network connectivity support.
Maintain Level I & II user accounts.
Collaborate with production and electrical departments.
Troubleshoot hardware and software problems.
 
Qualifications:
 
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or EE (or a combination of post-secondary education and related experience).
Experience with C++ or .NET Framework, MS SQL Server or Oracle DB, Visual Studio, Windows Server is required.
Solid understanding of process automation in a manufacturing environment.
Prior steel industry experience is a bonus (Hot/Cold-Rolling).
