CNC Lathe Operator
Location: Sanborn, NY
Machinist needed for programming, setting up, and operating CNC Lathe machines in Sanborn, NY. The main responsibility is producing production parts to required tolerances and due dates.
Responsibilities include:
- Writing programs on the machine and editing offline
- Designing and building basic fixtures related to various machining operations
- Reading blueprints, job travelers, work instructions, program and tooling sheets, quality documents, and GD&T; ensuring processes and operations are correct
- Setting up production machines following prints and specifications
- Choosing, aligning, and securely attaching holding fixtures, jaws, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and other materials on machines according to work instructions
- Applying knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances
- Identifying malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusting controls of machine to correct errors
- Inspecting and measuring completed production units to identify defects caused by machine setup
Other responsibilities include:
- Taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition
- Proper and safe use of material handling equipment such as cranes, carts, etc.
- Following all company safety rules, including machine operation and guarding
Additional reports/related tasks:
- Maintaining simple reports on work orders handled, quantities produced, and quality reports
- Ability to follow work order instructions, blueprint reading, and geometric tolerances
- Performing miscellaneous duties and participating in training as assigned by a supervisor
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Manufacturing/Technical Programming; OR completion of a full apprenticeship program; OR successful completion of suitable company training required
- At least three (3) years of experience as a fully qualified machinist required
