Job Description
Job Summary:
The machine operator will be responsible for operating computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools to precisely cut and produce parts for machines, instruments, and tools.
The machine operator will work with both manual and automated equipment, ensuring precise measurements and effective production operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand output specifications
- Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping
- Plan the necessary actions for job completion
- Select appropriate machines and position or load material
- Monitor machine performance, adjust feed and temperature, and identify issues
- Determine and program size of batches and machine speed
- Monitor output consistency with specifications and discard defects
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
- Perform other assigned duties
Minimum Qualifications:
- Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred
- Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use precision tools, such as calipers, for accurate measurements
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals
- Knowledge of metal properties and other materials
- Outstanding mathematical skills and analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
Work Environment:
The employee may be regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock, and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment, such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting, etc.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stretch, and crouch. They may also need to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close focus, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
