Maintenance Coordinator
Location: Bridgeport, CT
Position Summary: The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing maintenance and engineering support functions, as well as overseeing plant improvement projects in Bridgeport, CT. This includes planning and executing planned overhaul projects, overseeing vendors and contractors, and providing expertise in plant maintenance computer programs and CMMS (Maximo). In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Coordinator may also manage maintenance personnel, provide technical support for plant and process improvements, and coordinate with corporate engineering. Additionally, the Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for purchasing service contracts, including drafting request for proposals and issuing contracts. The majority of the Maintenance Coordinator's time will be spent on purchasing, pre-outage planning, daily work order planning, outage contract supervision, and post-outage feedback.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform and evaluate plant-specific functions related to predictive and preventative maintenance, availability improvements, and production cost:
A. Coordinate and conduct performance, functional, and surveillance testing of plant systems and components, comparing data to established standards and interpreting it to identify component wear, malfunctions, and repair or replacement needs. Continuously strive to improve equipment performance at the plant.
B. Use tools and analysis techniques to identify developing equipment issues that may cause future forced outages.
C. Assist in developing preventative and scheduled maintenance activities.
D. Plan outages for mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical disciplines, as well as long-term planning.
E. Evaluate equipment failures and contribute to Root Cause Analysis for prevention of reoccurrence.

Work closely with the Operations Manager to track facility service hours, equivalent starts, and other operating parameters to update Major Maintenance Inspection schedules for combustion turbines. Update Major Maintenance expense projections for inspections and overhauls. Track component repairs and schedules to ensure availability of replacement or refurbished parts.

2. In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, oversee the activities of personnel assigned to the Maintenance Department to ensure the maintenance of generating requirements, plant efficiency, and compliance with local, state, and federal safety and operational environmental standards. Ensure completion and closure of facility work orders using CMMS.
3. Assist the General Manager and Maintenance Manager in developing annual maintenance budgets.
4. Manage the site CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System - Maximo), utilizing it proficiently to schedule work, prioritize work orders, maintain inventory, and procure parts and materials.
5. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the maintenance team to maintain appropriate skill sets and qualifications for their assigned activities.
6. Assist in investigating plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provide analyses, recommendations, reports, and follow-up plans as necessary.
7. Conduct inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment during forced and annual outages, as assigned.
8. Provide technical support in preparing specifications, evaluating bid proposals, and monitoring contractor work to ensure compliance with contracts. Oversee contractors during outages to ensure proper QA/QC procedures are followed.
9. Coordinate with Corporate Engineering, external maintenance and engineering firms, manufacturer sales representatives and service personnel, and vendors to discuss field changes, equipment modifications, and resolve problems. Have frequent internal contact with various plant personnel to resolve problems, provide technical support, and exchange information.
10. Manage and participate in the request for proposals process, evaluate bids, and assist with contract awarding in compliance with policies and procedures.
11. Assist the maintenance manager in managing inventory, warehouse, and reordering of issued warehouse items as necessary.
12. Manage and update work packages and databases as required.
13. Maintain equipment reports and databases.
Additional Requirements
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
• Occasional overnight travel may be required
• Must be physically able to navigate plant facilities and stairways
• Must be able to work in a standard office environment, operate a computer, and use other office equipment
• Strong time management and self-directed with deadlines
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Maximo, People Soft (Advanced User level)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Experience with Microsoft Word Macro Templates and technical writing course
• Experience working in a team environment
Education/Experience Required:
• Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent experience
• Required 10+ years of power plant or similar experience
• Required 10+ years of power plant or similar experience
• Preferred at least 5 years of experience supervising technical, supervisory, and administrative personnel
