Maintenance Scheduling Coordinator
Location: Houston, TX
Position Summary: The Maintenance Scheduling Coordinator is responsible for coordinating maintenance and engineering support functions in Houston, TX. This includes managing plant improvement projects, overseeing vendors and contractors, and serving as an expert in the plant's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) programs.
The Maintenance Scheduling Coordinator also supervises maintenance personnel in the absence of the Maintenance Manager, provides technical support for plant and process enhancements, and collaborates with plant and corporate engineering. Additionally, the coordinator will handle the creation and maintenance of Request For Quote/Proposals (RFQ/RFP), manage Sole Source Justification (SSJ) documents, write Work Requests, and manage contractual services. The coordinator will also assist with plant purchasing program upkeep and inventory management as directed.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Perform and assess plant-specific functions related to predictive and preventative maintenance, availability improvements, and production costs:
A. Coordinate and conduct performance, functional, and surveillance tests on plant systems and components. Compare data with established standards and interpret data regarding component wear, malfunction, and repair or replacement needs. Continuously strive to improve plant equipment performance.
B. Use tools and analysis techniques to identify emerging equipment issues that may cause future forced outages.
C. Assist in developing preventative and scheduled maintenance activities.
D. Plan outages for mechanical and electrical disciplines as well as long-term planning.
E. Evaluate equipment failures and assist in Root Cause Analysis to prevent recurrence.
F. Work closely with the Operations Manager to track facility service hours, equivalent starts, and other operating parameters to regularly update Major Maintenance Inspection schedules for combustion turbines. Update projections for Major Maintenance expenses for inspections and overhauls. Monitor component repairs and schedules to ensure availability of replacement or refurbished parts.
2. In the absence of the Maintenance Manager, supervise personnel in the Maintenance Department to maintain generation requirements, plant efficiency, and compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards. Ensure facility work tickets are completed and closed out using the CMMS.
3. Assist the General Manager and Maintenance Manager in developing annual maintenance budgets.
4. Responsible for the site's CMMS. Proficiently use the CMMS to schedule work, prioritize work orders, maintain inventory, and procure parts and materials.
5. Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the maintenance team to maintain appropriate skill sets and qualification for assigned activities.
6. Assist in the investigation of plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events. Provide analyses, recommendations, reports, and follow-up plans as necessary.
7. Conduct inspections of boilers, pressure vessels, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment during forced and annual outages, as assigned.
8. Provide technical support in preparing specifications, evaluating bid proposals, and monitoring contractor work to ensure contract compliance. Oversee contractors during outages to ensure proper QA/QC procedures are followed.
9. Coordinate with Corporate Engineering and external contacts such as maintenance and engineering firms, manufacturer sales representatives, service personnel, and vendors to discuss field changes, equipment modifications, problems, and exchange information. Frequently interact with various plant personnel, including supervisors, technicians, and operations and maintenance personnel.
10. Manage request for proposals, evaluate bids, and participate in contract awarding.
11. Manage and update work packages and database.
12. Manage and maintain equipment reports and database.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Must be physically able to navigate plant facilities and stairways.
- Must be able to work in a standard office environment and proficiently operate a computer and other office equipment.
- Strong time management and organization skills for meeting deadlines.
- Work experience with Maximo, PeopleSoft (Advanced User level preferred or ability to learn).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Past experience working in a team environment.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience preferred (or experience in lieu of).
- 10+ years of power plant or similar experience required.
- At least 5 years' experience supervising technical, supervisory, and administrative personnel required.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills required.
