Primary Function

The Manager Product Engineering is responsible for overseeing all aspects of new product development. This includes coordinating with cross-functional support teams, managing resources, and providing technical guidance to development projects. The manager will work closely with the Director of Residential Engineering to deliver the NPD roadmap and support business needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute assignments related to product development activities
• Assist in developing and implementing growth plans and testing facilities
• Provide frequent status updates and communicate obstacles to the Director of Residential Engineering
• Supervise and manage the engineering team to achieve product maintenance and agency compliance goals
• Assign responsibilities, provide technical support, and resolve conflicts within cross-functional groups
• Review and evaluate proposed design changes and specifications
• Plan and monitor full product development, including mechanical and manufacturing aspects
• Perform competitive product analyses to inform project scope
• Coach and mentor engineering team members and communicate project activity and progress
• Interact with other Engineering Staff to provide design input throughout the development process
• Prepare project expense estimates and control expenditures
• Supervise short and long term product engineering projects and provide technical support to manufacturing
• Review and report on all projects on a weekly and monthly basis
• Travel as needed to review field installations and attend meetings
• Assist Quality Assurance with technical evaluations and assign change requests
• Participate in policy administration and long-range goal development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• 6-7 years of supervisory/leadership experience
• 7+ years of related work experience in product development, specifically gas combustion appliances
• Computer proficiency, including MS Office
• Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical articles
