Manufacturing Engineer
We are currently hiring for the position of Manufacturing Engineer in Montpelier, OH. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Develop, evaluate, document, and enhance manufacturing methods.
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow to design efficient layouts for equipment and workspace.
- Collaborate with planning and design staff to ensure efficient production methods and compliance with the APQP process and IATF 16949 standard.
- Coordinate with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or parts. Evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide insights for management decisions.
- Collaborate with management, engineering, and other staff to facilitate production processes, considering manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other relevant factors.
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and process potential.
- Design and specify gauging, cutting tools, machine tools, fixtures, and related manufacturing accessories.
- Evaluate the cost savings that new or revised machines/processes can bring to the company. Develop costing procedures for manufacturing processes. Instruct in safe operation and preventative maintenance policies.
- Prepare prints/specifications and select suppliers for quoting of gauges, cutting tools, machine tools, fixtures, and related manufacturing accessories.
- Assist suppliers with design, timing, delivery, and payment of products being supplied to us.
- Maintain project records and ensure all pertinent documents are retained and updated per standards.
- Review product drawings for manufacturing feasibility.
- Participate in Employee Involvement and prepare Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FFMEA) as required.
- Ensure all PFMEA documents are reviewed, signed, and distributed per standards.
- Establish cost reduction programs for manufacturing processes using conventional industrial engineering procedures.
- Implement new manufacturing processes using up-to-date technological innovations.
- Provide technical support for production supervision, including shop floor training in machine operation and tool usage. Establish tooling specifications and define expected tool life. Coordinate gauging procedures and design with quality assurance personnel.
- Operate CAD/CAM software as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE).
5 years of experience preferred, but open to new graduates and those with less than 5 years of experience. Salary commensurate with experience.
