Plating Department Manager

Location: Atlanta, GA


Our company, located in southwest suburban Atlanta, is a well-established leader in manufacturing and currently holds a large portion of the U.S. market share. We are seeking a skilled individual to fill the role of Plating Department Manager. This position plays a vital role in the daily operations of the plating department, focusing on safety, production, and quality. Additionally, the Plating Department Manager will oversee production planning and scheduling. This day shift position requires 10-hour workdays from Monday to Thursday, with some additional hours on Friday. RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")

  1. Coordinate daily scheduling and effectively utilize personnel.
  2. Ensure proper controls are in place for the plating chemical process.
  3. Identify and implement corrective actions to optimize the plating process.
  4. Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in electroplating, rack stripping, finishing, and inspecting of finished products.
  5. Possess knowledge of production plating processes, procedures, and their control.
  6. Oversee the implementation of corrective actions to improve the plating process.
  7. Coordinate and manage all continuous improvement projects.
  8. Support the maintenance of quality system requirements.
  9. Ensure proper training and provide necessary tools for plating personnel to maintain process parameters to specifications.
  10. Schedule and perform any required preventative or predictive maintenance activities.
  11. Ensure all lab personnel are trained in current analytical techniques and procedures.

  1. Preferably holds a bachelor's degree in a chemical-related field.
  2. Requires a minimum of 2 years of plating-related supervision experience in a manufacturing environment to be considered for the Manufacturing Supervisor position. At least 2 years of managerial experience with plating in a manufacturing environment is required for the Manufacturing Manager position.
  3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  4. Proficient in basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
