Position: Design Engineer


This position involves creating and developing designs for mechanical systems. Collaborates with the CAD Modeler to convert rough product designs into accurate working documents using CAD. Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards. The role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining pump products, systems, and auxiliary equipment. Requires familiarity with various concepts, practices, and procedures in the field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan, predict, analyze, and evaluate systems and components, and achieve goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Creativity and flexibility are expected. The position requires the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.


The Design Engineer will contribute to effective product designs that align with the organization's objectives. Prepares layout drawings and designs technical project data. Responsible for designing and documenting mechanical systems, including centrifugal pumps, bearing frames, couplings, machinery guards, and structural components. Performs calculations, verifies specifications, and determines requirements for capacities, materials, performance, construction, and type. Provides design support for Product Engineers to develop and maintain product families.

In this role, the Design Engineer is responsible for several items related to the organization's strategic mission.

  • Creates accurate component detail drawings, assembly drawings, and technical documentation for complex products.
  • Maintains existing products by identifying and resolving issues in the field and with manufacturing/suppliers.
  • Controls the cost of product development, sustainment, and enhancement efforts.
  • Ensures the appropriate use of the latest technology in the department.
  • Supports prototype testing and product validation.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) across all functional departments (e.g., Sales, Manufacturing).
  • Evaluates systems and components for safety.
  • Ensures department compliance with the quality system.
  • Plans assignments aligned with department objectives and consults management regarding constraints and capacity issues.

  • Other related responsibilities as assigned.


· A bachelor’s degree in a related engineering/design field. 2+ years of design experience, preferably with rotating equipment or industrial machinery.

· Mechanical design/analysis, drafting technology, manufacturing technology, GD&T, test/validate methods, and quality programs.

· Computer skills:

· MS Word and MS Excel.

· Experience with SolidWorks is required.

· Preferably familiar with PDM-Works and AutoCAD.

· Good verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently in a professional capacity.
