POSITION SPECIFICATION
Position: Commercial Mechanical Engineer
Location: St Paul, Minnesota
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing engineering documents and equipment specifications for Thermodynamic Principles application, such as HVAC Engineering and Design and load/energy modeling calculations.
- Utilizing design and drafting software, including Revit, to assist in producing drawings, schedules, and details.
- Gaining a basic understanding of Architectural, Electrical, Civil, and Structural Engineering construction practices.
- Coordinating with other disciplines (electrical, controls, structural, commissioning) to ensure project success.
- Developing budgets and ensuring project scope is maintained.
- Acting as project manager for complete projects and overseeing project teams.
- Supporting business development through input to proposals and presenting to prospective customers.
- Providing work direction to team members, including subcontractors, as required.
- Approving final equipment selections and drawing submittals.
- Offering technical and engineering support to other departments and disciplines.
- Leading and attending construction administration meetings, reviewing change orders, and responding to RFI’s.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Professional Engineering license
- Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience in an engineering consulting firm
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of psychometrics and pumps/fan laws
- Experience in HVAC, plumbing systems, selections, and optimization
