Mechanical Operations Lead

A 4-year degree from an accredited university is required, with a focus in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Industrial Engineering (BSIE), along with relevant experience in the manufacturing and design of high-speed automation machines.

The position of Mechanical Operations Lead involves both functional and technical management responsibilities for a team dedicated to the design and development of high-speed, automated packaging equipment. The successful candidate will ensure that projects are completed according to specifications and on schedule. This role presents an excellent opportunity for an individual to establish their own processes and procedures based on personal experience and industry best practices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the design of high-speed, automated packaging machinery, including mechanical layout, component sourcing, and BOM generation.

  • Collaborating with project managers, manufacturing teams, supply chain personnel, and electrical engineers to ensure projects are completed in accordance with specifications.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with customer-facing organizations, vendors, and suppliers.

  • Conducting root cause analysis, diagnostics, and equipment troubleshooting.

  • Managing subcontractors and their work to meet design requirements within project timelines.

Machine Production and Installation Support:

    • Providing support to Technical Sales managers on platform production projects.
    • Addressing questions, troubleshooting issues, providing studies and estimates.
    • Offering cost-effective solutions to customer product problems while maintaining design integrity.
  • Assisting in cost reduction and quality improvement of mechanical designs for machinery.

  • Understanding the mechanical specifications and needs of customers for their packaging operations.

  • Building and maintaining internal relationships with fellow employees.

  • Developing and maintaining external relationships with customers, supplier representatives, and personnel.

Background requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

  • At least 5 years of experience in engineering, preferably with a focus on high-speed, automated machinery.

  • Experience in organizational change management.

  • Experience with ASME Y14.5 and GD&T.

  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.

  • Packaging Machinery Equipment experience is a plus.

  • Additional licensure or certification may be required.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

  • Practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems, and engineering change management.

  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Excellent motivational skills and ability to multitask effectively.

  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time, including travel to our international sister plant in France.
