Mechanical Systems Technicians

Location: Chesterfield, MI
**TRAVEL REQUIRED OUTSIDE OF MICHIGAN FOR THIS POSITION**
The individuals responsible for electrical and mechanical installations will be traveling outside of Michigan on average every three weeks. Upon their return, they will work locally for one week before being sent out of state again.
When traveling out of state, all expenses are paid for. We have a significant amount of out of state work planned for the year 2024. While working out of state, the schedule consists of 12-hour shifts, seven days a week. Shifts typically begin at 6:00am.
We are in the trade of installing various systems including tower water, chiller water, pumping stations, compressed air, material handler systems, and more.
Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, modify, and repair all mechanical pipe installations, working with PVC pipe and tubing
  • Measure and cut various sizes of pipe and tubing to the required angle and length using pipe power tools
  • Thread and assemble various types of pipe and tubing, including PVC, Copper, and Black Pipe
  • Prepare, fabricate, install, and fit pipe to specification
  • Install valves, hangers, supports, and flanges in mechanical piping systems according to applicable plans and specifications
  • Adhere to all quality and safety codes, ensuring a zero accident philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations
Qualifications:
  • At least 3+ years of experience in mechanical pipe fitting
  • Must have a strong mechanical inclination
  • Familiarity with basic construction codes and safety regulations
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Must prioritize safety at all times
  • Must provide own hand tools
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read measurements and use basic math skills
Physical Requirements of Position:
  • This position requires extensive walking through factory environment production areas
  • Must be able to independently lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 lbs. routinely, 50 lbs. frequently, and 80 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be able to work skillfully with both hands constantly
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolding
  • Ability to work from extreme heights
  • Must be able to travel to job sites as assigned within and outside of Michigan
