Mechanical Reliability Specialist

Position: Mechanical Reliability Engineer

 

Are you a problem-solver with a passion for innovation and hands-on mechanical work in an industrial environment? We are seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer who excels at overcoming challenges, enhancing operations, and executing projects that improve performance and efficiency.

 

In this role, you will play a critical role in managing equipment installations, facility modifications, and ensuring the seamless operation of mechanical and hydraulic systems within our plant. You will lead projects from conception to completion, collaborating closely with contractors and cross-functional teams to meet budgetary goals and exceed expectations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Department to troubleshoot and optimize mechanical and hydraulic systems throughout the facility.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for plant equipment by identifying and implementing enhancements.
  • Leverage your expertise in large baghouse systems to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.
  • Create detailed project specifications for bidding, evaluate contractors, and negotiate contracts.
  • Estimate, schedule, and oversee projects to ensure timely and on-budget completion.
  • Engage with contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Support the Director of Steelmaking Technology on specialized projects and initiatives.
  • Lead various projects, potentially involving local and international travel.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Nurture collaboration and teamwork, effectively working with colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrate consistent attendance and performance, taking on additional responsibilities as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on the steel or heavy industry. Environmental experience would be advantageous.
