Quality Control Engineer
Our client is seeking a Material Review Board (MRB) Engineer to join their team in North Berwick, ME. This position focuses on the inspection and evaluation of non-conforming materials for gas turbine engines. As an MRB Engineer, you will work closely with the Design Authority, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to uphold the highest engineering standards and ensure compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary Responsibility: Review and assess Non-Conforming Material (NC), including parts, deviation requests, and waivers from OEMs and suppliers. This involves evaluating technical specifications, fit, form, function, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure proper management and segregation of non-conforming parts in accordance with regulatory standards while awaiting review and disposition.
- Collaborate with Design Authorities to determine part repair requirements or usage parameters.
- Conduct assessments related to engineering principles such as tolerance stacks, GD&T interpretation, interchangeability, and repair requirements.
- Obtain and maintain certification as a "Certified MRB Engineer" through customer-provided training.
- Guide and mentor less experienced engineers, providing technical support and training.
- Participate in quality control processes, including Corrective Action Boards (CAB), and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in gas turbine design, with partial MRB certification for aero-engine preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience for full MRB certification, allowing the engineer to work on multiple engine components.
- In-depth knowledge of Material Review Board (MRB) processes and non-conformance management in regulated industries such as Aerospace & Defense, Medical, and Mass Transit.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for managing and storing non-conformance data.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, with strong understanding of GD&T and modern manufacturing processes (metal, composites).
- Demonstrated expertise in quality assurance processes, including part qualification, non-conforming material disposition, and continuous improvement projects.

- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience in developing and mentoring junior engineers is highly desired.
Work Environment:
- Office and/or shop floor environments with occasional physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of a computer for technical work, document review, and data management.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to travel and work on-site at customer locations when required.
