We are currently seeking an Executive Director for a membership-based organization that also supports a small but growing Architecture Foundation. This dynamic leader will guide the team through a period of expansion, leveraging the dedication and involvement of our committed staff and Board of Directors. In this role, you will play a vital part in achieving exceptional outcomes across all aspects of the organization, with a focus on empowering staff, engaging the Board, efficient organization management, donor cultivation and stewardship, and the implementation of a sustainable and ambitious vision for success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the Board to establish and execute a clear vision for the organization.
- Articulating goals and objectives, and implementing the necessary strategies to achieve the vision.
- Ensuring that all programs, events, education, and advocacy efforts align closely with the organization's mission and vision, while enhancing member value.
Board Partnership:
- Working with the Board to fulfill the organization's mission, serving as the main point of contact for staff.
- Collaborating with the Board President to set meeting agendas and ensuring timely communication on program, development, financial, and strategic matters.
- Managing all administrative aspects of Board meetings.
- Facilitating regular interaction between the Board and Staff to enhance knowledge of the organization's programs and key staff members.
Communications and External Relations:
· Being an advocate for the organization's values, mission, culture, and promoting design excellence.
- Cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, including national and state leaders, community representatives, business leaders, and funders.
- Enhancing the organization's profile and brand recognition.
- Overseeing all internal and external communications, including advocacy activities.
- Ensuring quality and consistency in the organization's visual and print materials, newsletter, and social media presence.
General Management:
- Recruiting, leading, developing, and motivating a qualified staff to achieve program goals.
- Ensuring the implementation of appropriate systems to facilitate day-to-day operations, including program management, development, and administration.
- Overseeing the planning and execution of major events.
Program, Event and Committee Oversight:
- Ensuring that programs, events, and committee work align with the organization's mission and strategic goals.
- Demonstrating substantial knowledge of community-related issues and promoting best practices.
- Personally engaging in program delivery, including volunteer recruitment, retention, and leadership development.
- Working to involve and engage emerging design professionals and architecture schools in the organization's activities and programs.
Fundraising and Financial Management:
- Leading fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
- Demonstrating a clear understanding and ability to secure resources for financial sustainability.
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan.
- Managing the budget and ensuring the prudent use of financial resources.
- Implementing appropriate financial controls and systems.
- Ensuring timely preparation and filing of all financial and tax-related documents.
Operations Management:
- Managing the organization's physical space, infrastructure, and assets in collaboration with the Associate Director.
- Overseeing human resources, including personnel policies, benefits management, employment practices, and handling personnel issues.
- Ensuring sound risk management policies and practices, compliance with non-profit laws, and appropriate insurance coverage.
Qualifications:
- Passion for the organization's mission.
- Energetic and goal-oriented team player with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated interest in supporting volunteers and a strong commitment to advancing art and design.
- Over 10 years of management experience, including staff supervision, financial reporting, and advocacy activities.
- Self-starter with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Enjoys working in a close-knit team environment and embraces technology.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Over 5 years in an Executive Director or similar role.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
