We are actively seeking an Executive Director for our "member based" organization. This dynamic individual will guide our team through a period of growth, utilizing the dedication and involvement of our committed staff and Board of Directors. This role is crucial in achieving outstanding results in all aspects of our organization, with a focus on empowering staff, engaging the Board, effective management, donor development, and implementing a sustainable and ambitious vision of success.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the Board to establish and execute a clear organization vision.
  • Articulating goals and objectives while implementing strategies to realize the vision.
  • Ensuring all programs are closely aligned with the organization's vision and mission, accomplishing strategic objectives.

Board Partnership:

  • Working with the Board to fulfill the organization's mission, serving as the main liaison for staff.
  • Collaborating with the Board President to create meeting agendas, ensuring timely communication on programmatic, developmental, financial, and strategic matters.
  • Managing administrative aspects of Board meetings.
  • Facilitating regular interactions between the Board and Staff to enhance knowledge of the organization's programs and key staff members.

Communications and External Relations:

  • Cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, including national/state, community, and business leaders, funders, etc.
  • Enhancing the organization's profile and brand recognition.
  • Overseeing all internal and external communications, including lobbying activities.
  • Directing the organization's social media presence.

General Management:

  • Recruiting, leading, developing, and motivating a qualified staff to achieve program goals.
  • Ensuring appropriate systems are in place to facilitate day-to-day operations (program management, development, and administration).
  • Managing the planning and execution of major events.

Program Oversight:

  • Ensuring programs align with the mission and achieve strategic goals.
  • Demonstrating in-depth knowledge of community-related issues and promoting best practices.
  • Acting as a strategic recruiter for all volunteers.
  • Personally engaging in program delivery, including volunteer recruitment, retention, and leadership development.

Fundraising and Financial Management:

  • Leading fundraising efforts in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding and ability to secure resources for financial sustainability.
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive and ongoing fundraising plan.
  • Managing the budget to ensure responsible use of organizational financial resources.
  • Ensuring appropriate financial controls and systems are established.
  • Ensuring timely preparation and filing of all financial and tax-related documents.

Operations Management:

  • Managing the organization's physical space, infrastructure, and assets in partnership with the Associate Director.
  • Providing guidance on human resource issues, including the development and administration of personnel policies, benefits management, employment practices, and handling individual personnel matters.
  • Ensuring sound risk management policies and practices, including compliance with applicable laws and securing suitable insurance coverage.


  • Passion for the organization's mission.
  • Energetic, goal-oriented team player with excellent communication skills (oral and written) and strong relationship-building abilities.
  • Demonstrated interest in supporting volunteers and a strong commitment to advancing art and design.
  • Over 10 years of related management experience, including direct staff supervision, financial reporting/oversight, and lobbying activities.
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, successful at managing multiple deadlines.
  • Enjoys working in a close-knit team and embraces technology.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Over 5 years in an Executive Director or related role.
  • Proven experience meeting and exceeding fundraising goals.
