Medical Surgical Nurse

What we are looking for:
- Must be a registered nurse (RN) with an active license in the state of Kansas.
- Associate degree in nursing (ADN) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Hours and compensation:
- Full-time position, working three nights a week from 7pm to 7:30am.
- Every other weekend and rotating holidays.
- Salary range of $30 to $49 per hour, dependent on years of experience.
- Additional bump in salary for candidates with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Shift differentials of $2.00 per hour for evenings, $2.50 per hour for nights, and $2.70 per hour for weekends.
- Full benefit package including a sign-on/relocation bonus of either $5,000 for a 1-year commitment or $10,000 for a 2-year commitment, as well as $5,000 per year in tuition reimbursement.
What you will be doing:
- Providing general nursing care to patients in a hospital healthcare facility.
- Utilizing AIDET in daily communication with patients, visitors, staff, and other departments.
- Greeting visitors and accompanying them to their destination.
- Coordinating with the Charge Nurse to obtain an appropriate patient assignment.
- Updating and maintaining the patient's White Communication board.
- Performing head-to-toe assessments on all assigned patients and documenting in the electronic chart in real-time.
- Monitoring patients throughout the shift and documenting any changes. Notifying providers if necessary and keeping the Charge Nurse or House Supervisor informed.
- Monitoring telemetry and keeping the SCU up to date with patient changes.
- Performing hourly rounding, coordinating with assistive staff, documenting as required, and providing patient education.
- Administering prescribed medications using approved nursing techniques and Med/Verify.
- Administering treatments as directed by physicians and following nursing standards and policies.
- Educating patients and families throughout the shift and documenting education in the electronic flow chart.
Additional information:
The facility is an acute care hospital with under 50 beds, and it operates as a nonprofit organization. The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1, but it may be 3-4:1 until the census grows. Depending on the census, there may be an additional nurse or CNA available to support the team.
