Power Plant Maintenance Manager

Operations and Maintenance Manager

Position Summary:
The individual in this role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance activities of three facilities, under the direction of the General Manager. Two of the facilities are located in Lakewood, New Jersey, and the third is in Rising Sun, Maryland. The main office will be based in Lakewood, with occasional travel to Maryland.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise and provide guidance on all facility operations, including starting up and shutting down main plant components, auxiliaries, and system components.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of site safety requirements and procedures, ensuring consistent adherence and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
3. Assist in the establishment and improvement of comprehensive and efficient programs in operations, maintenance, chemistry, environmental control, and safety.
4. Oversee the collection and analysis of plant operational and performance data, maintaining logs and records through a standardized process.
5. Maintain plant process chemistry within designated guidelines by conducting routine chemical testing, evaluation, and implementing corrective actions.
6. Perform electrical and mechanical inspections, troubleshooting, maintenance tasks, and outage planning.
7. Supervise the operation of plant instrumentation and control devices to identify and address abnormal plant conditions.
8. Develop standard procedures for operations and maintenance.
9. Fulfill any other duties necessary to meet plant requirements.
10. Assign, monitor, and ensure high-quality work from operations technicians.
11. Assist in the preparation, justification, and control of annual operations and maintenance budgets.
12. Support the General Manager in recruiting, positioning employees, and employee development and qualification.
13. Interact with various equipment and service vendors.
14. Maximize plant efficiency and shareholder value while prioritizing personnel and equipment safety, environmental compliance, and long-term commercial viability of the facility.
15. Oversee employees on a rotating shift schedule, scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
16. Establish and maintain high standards of safety and environmental compliance.
Education/Experience Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or relevant field.
• 5-10 years of experience/training in power plant operations.
• Possession of New Jersey Black Seal certification.
• Knowledge in operations, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical aspects.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Proficiency in data gathering, CMMS, and Microsoft Suite programs.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on safety.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and foster personal development.
• Organizational and analytical skills.
