Maintenance Technician - Lakewood, NJ
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of plant equipment, monitoring and maintaining the facility's mechanical systems. This role requires completing job assignments in a flexible work environment and making decisions to ensure safe and reliable equipment operation. The Maintenance Technician supports both the Maintenance and Operation of the plant, working closely with the O&M Manager and other team members.
- Provide input to the O&M Manager on work plans and directions
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with other positions
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical systems and equipment problems
- Conduct routine inspections and tests to ensure plant operates within parameters
- Repair, maintain and install mechanical systems and equipment as directed
- Supervise and coordinate contractors as needed
- Perform various operational, mechanical and electrical activities
- Operate plant equipment (plow truck, cranes, forklift, etc.)
- Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for maintenance activities
- Manage storeroom inventory and shipping/receiving of parts and materials
- Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures
- Independently operate and maintain the facility based on operation data
- Operate the facility via turbine and balance of plant controls
- Identify and communicate unusual plant conditions to colleagues
- Complete required permitting functions and safety procedures
- Provide assistance to colleagues in resolving problems
- Work regular and flexible hours to support facility operation
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the facility
- Prioritize job tasks efficiently
- Perform any other duties assigned to support safe and reliable operation of the power plant
Education/Experience Required
High school diploma or GED equivalent with at least five (5) years of power plant experience in operations and/or maintenance, including experience as a Control Room Operator (CRO). CRO qualification is preferred.
