Operations Director/ Transportation & Collection
Location: Emeryville, CA
Salary: $165,000 to $185,000
We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Director/ Transportation & Collection to oversee the day-to-day operations of a single site with multiple Lines of Business. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining performance and productivity metrics, as well as cost management processes. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the safety, service, and savings of our operations, while managing the P&L. Route Managers will report directly to you.
Job Functions
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the District, providing daily support to drivers to ensure safety, service, and savings.
- Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, and other safety and regulatory standards.
- Investigate root causes of injuries and incidents, and provide coaching and retraining as needed.
- Oversee personnel needs, including hiring, coaching, disciplining, training, and evaluating employees.
- Collaborate with the Senior District Manager and/or Director of Collection Operations to establish short-term and long-term goals and action plans.
- Participate in regular P&L reviews to meet budgets and implement programs for optimal equipment utilization, maintenance, and cost management.
- Interact with local agencies to ensure customer satisfaction, improve efficiency, renew contracts, and negotiate new contracts.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree required
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record while in this position
Experience in operations, customer service, community relations, health and safety, financial and human resource functions, and supervision or management required. Experience with safety programs, budget planning, and labor relations is also necessary.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing people and budgets, with a focus on budgeting and P&L. The site's budget ranges from $150 million to $250 million.
