Operational Director

Location: Fort Payne, AL

Position Overview:

The Operational Director is responsible for overseeing and updating operational activities, ensuring that operational groups have sufficient resources. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining compliance with Quality and Business Operating System requirements and actively promoting continuous improvement within the company's facility.

Key Responsibilities and Authorities:

  • Lead and motivate employees to achieve facility goals and targets.
  • Assist the General Manager in managing operations to prevent and address negative variances.
  • Collaborate with the management team to meet customer requirements and communicate with customers as necessary.
  • Work with the company's management team to achieve organizational goals and targets.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Quality and Business Operating systems.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives in production departments.
  • Engage with customers to assess and enhance services.
  • Foster a team atmosphere through cross-functional team collaborations.
  • Monitor departmental goals using the performance management program.
  • Ensure timely completion of Performance Management Program for subordinates.
  • Develop and review production and capacity plans, as well as inventory targets.
  • Strive to exceed customer satisfaction targets.
  • Ensure sufficient departmental resources, including training, safety standards, and tools.
  • Provide support for Production Supervisors during absences.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across all business areas.
  • Support and direct lean initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of corrective action plans as needed.
  • Manage the development and communication of supplier or customer constraint plans.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and decision-making abilities.
  • Lead by example to ensure compliance with TS/ISO standards, including participation in audits.
  • Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and accident investigations.
  • Direct managers and supervisors to maintain positive employee relations and a safe work environment.
  • Ensure awareness and understanding of ISO 14001, ISO/TS 16949 standards, and company policies.
  • Participate in management system audit events and corrective actions.
  • Ensure employee compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Promote a consistent atmosphere of teamwork.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist employees in customer satisfaction-focused operations.
  • Ensure all employees receive appropriate training and understand their job tasks.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in plant operations within a large automotive environment, including at least 5 years in leadership roles.
  • Experience in paint applications, tooling, plastic injection molding, and assembly operations.
  • Experience in managing positive labor relations.
