Legal Assistant - Labor and Employment Disputes

Location: San Diego, CA

Please note: This role requires employees to be present in the office five days a week at our client’s Cerritos or San Diego, CA location (2 positions available).

Job Description

  • Manage litigation cases from intake to trial and closure
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests, including subpoenas and document productions
  • Prepare deposition and trial materials such as witness and exhibit lists, subpoenas, and on-call letters
  • Conduct background checks and online investigations
  • Summarize depositions, medical records, and discovery responses
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses, including obtaining CVs and fee schedules
  • Maintain and organize case files, trial binders, and document databases
  • Assist attorneys in utilizing litigation tools and databases (e.g., Eclipse, CaseMap, LAW)
  • Track subpoenaed records, maintain detailed indexes, and ensure timely document review
  • Collaborate closely with litigation technology teams for e-discovery processing, document coding, OCR, and batch exports
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and meet billable hours targets

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience
  • Strong understanding of discovery, trial preparation, and subpoena processes
  • Familiarity with litigation support tools like Eclipse (IPro), LAW, and CaseMap
  • Comfortable managing high-volume document review and database maintenance
  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
