Automotive Payroll Manager

Location: Troy, MI

We are seeking an Automotive Payroll Manager to join our team at our Troy, MI location.

The Payroll Manager will be responsible for supervising and overseeing payroll operations for our North American facilities. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, resolving payroll-related issues, and collaborating closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Accounting teams in both North America and our corporate office in Spain. Additionally, the Payroll Manager will eventually serve as the subject matter expert for SAP Payroll.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure timely and accurate payroll processing and distribution for all US facilities
  • Perform data entry for the Payroll application (SAP)
  • Track monthly insurance costs for medical, life, dental, etc. for all US facilities
  • Handle IRS and state payroll tax reporting and deposits
  • Facilitate annual audits of the 401k program and Workers' Compensation
  • Assist with the annual filing of IRS form 5500 for the Human Resource Department
  • Support the Human Resources department in creating and maintaining employee recruitment, benefits, and relations policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate expertise in federal and state employment law, tax, and compliance
  • Manage taxable employee benefits such as life insurance and relocation
  • Assist with travel and travel expense reports using Cliqbooks/Concur

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related discipline
  • Previous experience in payroll management and operations in a multi-plant environment
  • Proficiency with SAP Payroll module or willingness to become an expert
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of IRS, tax, employment, and labor laws
  • Experience with payroll administration in a multi-plant environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with tax filings for benefits and payroll taxes
  • May be required to work extended hours on occasion
  • Ability to travel as needed
