Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Manager
Location: Downey, CA
Salary: $160,000-$200,000 per year (plus Performance Bonus, Sign-On Bonus, and Relocation Assistance)
Job Summary:
Responsible for managing the delivery of nursing services and ensuring safe patient care within the assigned department and across the continuum of care. This role involves integrating nursing standards of practice, service priorities, and performance/outcome measures with strategic, business, and organizational goals/objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Manage the delivery of nursing services and safe patient care on a 24-hour basis, meeting or exceeding cost, quality, and clinical standards.
- Establish, implement, and maintain patient care and service standards that meet the expectations and needs of members and internal clients.
- Collaborate with Nursing Leadership to develop strategic/business plans for integrated services across the continuum of care.
- Design and implement systems, processes, and methods to evaluate and improve patient care within the assigned department.
- Monitor department budgets and identify strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care.
- Ensure appropriate staff allocation, hiring, training, and competency maintenance.
- Develop and monitor departmental policies, procedures, and standards of care/practice.
- Manage and resolve human resource and risk management issues.
- Promote an organizational culture of safety and ensure adherence to safety standards and guidelines.
- Participate in leadership committees and forums at the Medical Center, Regional, and/or National level.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience in a relevant position/department, including 3 years of management or leadership experience.
Education
- Academic degree in nursing (Bachelors or Master's degree).
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- BSN and National Health/Nursing Administration Certification or MSN required for PICU and NICU Departments.
License, Certification, Registration
- Registered Nurse License (California).
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, TJC, and other regulations.
Additional qualifications:
- Demonstrated interpersonal and management skills.
- Experience with electronic medical record preferred.
- Masters degree preferred.
- National Certification in specialty preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a Community level 2 PICU.
