Plant Operations Supervisor
OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a Plant Operations Supervisor to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. As the Plant Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the plant to ensure safe and efficient energy delivery. You will provide leadership to the plant O&M department and make recommendations for process improvements. In the absence of the Plant Manager, you will assume their duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide guidance to O&M personnel to ensure safe and efficient operation of facility equipment in compliance with regulations.
- Maximize equipment availability through effective tracking and management of plant operations.
- Evaluate and adjust operational and maintenance processes for continuous improvement.
- Promote adherence to established procedures and practices within the department.
- Develop action plans to align employee conduct with proper operation and maintenance processes.
- Investigate and resolve outages and irregularities, and make recommendations for equipment reliability improvement.
- Prepare plant operation reports and evaluate O&M employment candidates.
- Ensure proper safety training and orientation for O&M department members.
- Prepare and submit O&M budget and project recommendations.
- Implement O&M activities in accordance with approved budget.
- Develop and implement training programs for the O&M staff.
- Oversee maintenance programs and evaluate their effectiveness for cost optimization and equipment reliability.
- Manage planned outages and coordinate plant operation with asset management objectives.
- Communicate and collaborate with Plant Manager and Corporate management staff on plant performance and conditions.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Possess and maintain a valid, in-state motor vehicle operator’s license.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years of power plant experience or a minimum of 10 years of industry-related work experience. Knowledge of NERC regulations and gas turbine experience is desirable. In addition, the candidate should have strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a history of implementing innovative approaches to problem-solving.
The Plant Operations Supervisor must prioritize safety and ensure compliance with environmental permits. They must effectively communicate with the Plant Manager and the management team, as well as provide suggestions for plant improvement. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to make decisions within policy constraints and handle complex work situations with timely communication and collaboration.
