Controls Engineer

Location: Lemont, IL

The position available is a Controls Engineer located in Lemont, IL. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Devising creative solutions to complex engineering problems.
  • Assessing project scopes, setting criteria, and conducting feasibility studies.
  • Offering technical guidance to teams, fostering a safe and efficient work environment.

  • Requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred, along with at least 3 years of experience in process control or similar roles in the refining and chemical industries. Additionally, 8 years of experience in controls supervision without a degree will also be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in modeling, multivariable control, DeltaV, DCS/PLC configuration, and instrument tuning is essential.
  • Other Qualifications:
    • Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach
    • A valid driver's license and eligibility for Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)

  • Engineering Expertise: Oversee engineering efforts to ensure safe and compliant project design.
  • Project Management: Establish and manage project scopes to enhance refinery operations, while overseeing work quality, budget, and timelines.
  • Training & Mentorship: Act as a mentor and trainer to new engineers, keeping teams up to date on technological advancements and best practices.
  • Advanced Control Projects: Lead and optimize the design and implementation of control systems to improve unit performance.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure efficient operation of the Process Control System (DCS), Multivariable Control (MVC), and Safety Instrumented System (SIS).
