Process Engineer

A leading North American company in the manufacturing industry is seeking an experienced Process Engineer with expertise in process improvement and development for our largest manufacturing plant. Your role will involve supporting self-directed teams in resolving technical issues, ensuring resources are available for teams to plan, control, and enhance their operations. You will also contribute to the development of team capability through training, coaching, and the free flow of information. Additionally, the Process Engineer will participate in goal setting and strategy development, with strong organizational and communication skills being essential to achieve corporate standards safely.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive and manage safety throughout the plant.
- Ensure achievement of corporate engineering standards.
- Act as a process expert and catalyst for continuous improvement.
- Propose, sponsor, and lead projects to improve profitability, product performance, reduce costs, enhance yields, or shorten cycle time using Lean and Six Sigma tools.
- Optimize metal profitability by improving both business and operational processes.
- Assist in the development of high-performance teams focused on results, teamwork, self-sufficiency, and effective communication.
- Ensure high-performance teams have the necessary resources and information for self-sufficiency.
- Utilize statistical analysis methods to effectively analyze process concerns and performance gaps.
- Ensure effective utilization of Control Plans to create process stability and control.
- Monitor process performance to achieve safety, first pass quality, and productivity objectives.
- Provide leadership and support in TPM activities, such as data collection, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or Industrial Engineering
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience owning and improving a process
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and time management
- Ability to interface with the organization, customers, and suppliers
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and productivity
- Ability to develop or revise process documents such as Control Plans, FMEA's, JSA’s, and job instructions
- Proficient in MS Office products and MS Project
- Familiarity with TPM principles
