Private Label Non-Food Product Manager

About the Position: This particular role entails managing our range of products for a designated set of categories, overseeing the product lifecycle management and financial performance of these items. This includes leading the sourcing, development, and launch of these products. The individual in this position will be responsible for creating a category roadmap based on business opportunities, collaborating with key stakeholders, and executing that roadmap through flawless commercialization. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team tasked with establishing the foundation and future of sourcing. The position reports to the Brands Product Director and is a new addition to the team.

- Create and implement short, medium, and long-term category management plans and sourcing strategies for specific Brands categories.
- Conduct industry analyses and competitive assessments to prioritize sales and margin opportunities that would bring added value to the company.
- Lead the RFP process for identified Brands categories, working closely with business owners throughout, identifying potential supplier partners, conducting market research, and managing supplier communication.
- Negotiate contracts and business terms with suppliers using a strategic sourcing process that emphasizes should-costs, scenario modeling, design to value thinking, and vertical interference concepts.
- Develop business recommendations and present them to key decision-makers, including the Purchasing Leadership Team and our Independent Operators network.
- Execute legal contracts with awarded suppliers, collaborating with the legal team on indemnifications and terms and conditions.
- Monitor supplier performance, evaluate service levels, assess capacity planning, review innovation pipelines, and drive continuous cost improvements.
- Provide ad hoc analysis and support for stakeholders throughout the company, acting as a valued thought partner for the business.
- Collaborate with suppliers to create and launch new products, ensuring that they meet quality expectations and provide value to our shoppers and stores.
- Prepare financial reports summarizing Brands category performance, cost analysis, and other key metrics, working closely with finance, purchasing, and strategy teams.
- Utilize data visualizations to create reports and dashboards that facilitate data-driven decision-making for the Brands and Purchasing departments.
- Contribute to packaging design solutions for responsible categories in collaboration with the Brands design agency, taking into account category activity and private label competitive positioning.
- Review and approve label claim documentation, quality certifications, specifications, plant audit reports, certificates of insurance, and other legal or regulatory documents to manage risk for the company.
- Create sales and marketing content for planned digital marketing events, including advertisements, seasonal events, promotions, industry activations, and Independent Operator needs.
- Effectively manage the Brands portfolio within assigned departments to achieve sales growth and margin performance while maintaining value for our shoppers.

- Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills, and may vary depending on location.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Food Science, Economics, or Supply Chain. MBA preferred.
- 10+ years of analytical experience with a data-driven approach, able to quickly model financial impacts and identify opportunities. Advanced Excel skills required.
- 7+ years of private label, sourcing, and/or product commercialization experience across multiple product categories. Expertise in private label commercialization, including legal, quality, regulatory, and print production, with grocery retail experience highly desirable.
- Action-oriented and proactive in implementing operational improvements and leading change.
- Familiarity with clean-sheeting, should-cost modeling, tolling, and developing financial models to determine the total costs of ownership for consumer-packaged goods.
- Knowledgeable about category industry activities and risks, including regulatory restrictions and requirements, certification standards, brand positioning, claim values, and shopper behavior drivers.
- Collaborative worker, able to quickly build trusted relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, work independently, and maintain focus.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, especially when interacting with peers and executives. Strong PowerPoint skills required.
- Experience working with a mainframe ERP system and multiple data sources is a plus.
