Our client, a well-established company with 60 years of experience in the food, pet food, and plastics segment of the food industry, is seeking an Engineering Project Manager for their team in Lawrence, KS. This company specializes in custom fabrication of solutions to real problems and offers a wide range of products such as bins, storage facilities, and material handling systems that have been successfully used in various industries including grain, feed, fertilizer, seed, ice, and meat.
As an Engineering Project Manager, you will work under the direction of Project Managers to focus on engineering, drawing, BOM, and engineering release components of the projects, ensuring accurate ow, stack-up, and GD drawings, production drawings, and project schedules. You will also be responsible for managing non-systems orders, vendor management, releasing items for purchasing, and maintaining project details.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop accurate ow, stack-up, and GD drawings as directed by Project Managers
• Check production engineering drawings and BOMs for accuracy
• Manage non-systems orders including order requirements clarification, vendor management, etc.
• Assist in releasing items for purchasing and managing vendor activities
• Assist in maintaining job item date entries and change orders
• Assist in assembling shipment details and providing customers with accurate system device/utility lists
• Produce customer standard approval drawings
• Work with outside suppliers to obtain buyout component pricing and details
• Monitor project progress and follow up as necessary to ensure planned project schedules are maintained
• Develop expertise in design aspects important to customers including sanitation and safety
• Process warranty claims and implement corrective actions to eliminate issues
• Develop, revise, and organize Bills of Materials for components
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Participate in department improvement initiatives as directed by VP of Engineering
• Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED / DESIRED.
• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
• Experience in 3D modelling (SolidWorks preferred)
• Knowledge of effective utilization of ERP systems
• Exposure to bulk material handling and pneumatic conveying
• Vendor management experience
