Roadway Project Engineer

Location: Jacksonville, FL

We are currently seeking a Roadway Project Engineer to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. As a member of the project operations team, the Project Engineer's main responsibility is to support project staff, Project Managers, and Project Superintendents in ensuring that work is well-planned, efficient, understood, and documented. The key objectives of the Project Engineer include planning, communication, organization, implementation, and tracking.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience working on medium to large heavy civil, roadway, and bridge projects with a value of $50 million or more. You will be responsible for reviewing the contract and specifications in their entirety, and providing assistance to the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, and Project Engineer as needed. This will involve tasks such as schedule preparations and updates, quantity reporting, project cost and forecasting, obtaining pricing from subcontractors and vendors, requisitioning equipment and material deliveries, coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and workforce to resolve project challenges and conflicts, and managing document control.

Other responsibilities include reviewing daily reports for accuracy, preparing and maintaining a technical submittal list, complying with notice requirements such as inspections and utility adjustments, issuing correspondence to subcontractors and vendors regarding revised plans or specifications, assisting with project closeout, and performing additional assignments as directed by the Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Construction Engineering and Management (CEM)
  • 3-5+ years of experience in the civil construction field (office/field role)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Primavera 6
