Roadway Project Engineer

Pay Range: Competitive and based on industry experience. $100,000 - $125,000

Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday, with additional days as required

Objective:

The Roadway Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager and Project Superintendent. Responsibilities include assisting with goal setting, planning, communication, organization, implementation, and tracking to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, review, and distribute project submittals
  • Manage plan drawings, including updates and revisions
  • Maintain and update all required project logs
  • Conduct material take-offs
  • Liaise with owners, client representatives, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Calculate pricing and prepare contracts and purchase orders for subcontractors and suppliers
  • Coordinate subcontractor schedules and material deliveries
  • Maintain a well-organized workspace while handling multiple projects
  • Draft reports, business correspondence, and project documentation
  • Clearly present information in one-on-one or small group settings to clients, customers, and team members
  • Interpret documents such as safety guidelines, operating manuals, and procedural instructions
  • Take on additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Candidates with three or more years of relevant experience (as described in this role) will also be considered
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera 3 and 6
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Solid grasp of basic algebra, geometry, and construction math concepts
  • Valid driver’s license for occasional travel as needed
  • Ability to identify issues, gather data, analyze facts, and reach sound conclusions
  • Capability to interpret complex technical instructions, including mathematical and diagrammatic formats, while handling both abstract and practical variables
  • Moderate physical stamina for administrative tasks, with some outdoor exposure to varying weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind)
  • Ability to navigate minor obstacles on foot at construction sites
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to handle items and perform detailed work
