This position is in the chemicals/oil & gas/mining/materials industry, so experience in clean manufacturing environments may not be suitable. As a Project Coordinator, you will spend time in the field, working in an environment with high heat, humidity, dust, and potential for extreme cold. You will also be required to travel to lead projects at other facilities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage projects less than $10 million with responsibility for multiple projects that could total over $10 million.
  • Facilitate the development of project business cases, cost estimates, and project execution plans.
  • Clearly define project scope, objectives, and goals, and communicate them to the team and stakeholders.
  • Work with customers and stakeholders to define and communicate success.
  • Integrate project activities and make necessary changes for success.
  • Develop safety, quality, schedule, and budget metrics for the project and manage to achieve those objectives.
  • Lead the development of a detailed project risk analysis and mitigation plan.
  • Assemble the right resources, ensure role clarity, and manage team members and contractors.
  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and review deliverables prepared by the team.
  • Apply best-in-class methodologies and enforce project standards.
  • Select and manage engineering contractors, suppliers, and construction contractors.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Measure and verify project performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Report progress and cost to stakeholders and management.
  • Effectively communicate, keep team members engaged and motivated, and resolve conflicts.
  • Manage change through the project process.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of project metrics.
  • Participate in engineering reviews and conduct constructability, operability, and maintainability reviews.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance for commissioning, start-up, and turnover.
  • Participate in community relationship initiatives and conduct lessons learned activities.
  • Forecast costs, revenue, profitability, and margins. Ensure project legal and environmental requirements are met.
  • Maintain awareness of new technologies and their potential application to the project.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Solid knowledge of project management practices.
  • Understanding of safety, engineering, estimating, construction, cost control, scheduling, and performance metrics.
  • Ability to prepare written reports, project correspondence, and contract management.
  • Understanding of revenue models, profit and loss, and cost projections.
  • Understanding of project processes.
  • Ability to manage project budget.
  • Effective facilitation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to participate in resolution of complex technical and commercial issues.
  • Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Ability to motivate the team for efficient collaboration.

REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related industrial plant experience as a project manager, project engineer, and/or construction manager.
