Job Summary:
As the Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of all products produced in our plant. Your primary duties will include defining and communicating specifications, conducting inspections, providing employee training, ensuring compliance with food laws and regulations, and maintaining plant HACCP plans. Additionally, you will establish best lab practices, offer guidance on quality policies, actively participate in resolving customer complaints, and play an integral role in the plant leadership team. You will also provide support to the Sales, R&D, and Operations departments regarding customer issues and concerns.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all plant personnel adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP), including proper waste disposal, personal hygiene, and personal practices.
  • Develop and present a comprehensive orientation process to all employees, providing training in the Key Concepts of Food Safety and Quality, and emphasize their accountability in identifying any failures in these areas.
  • Collaborate closely with the Operations and Maintenance departments to instill a sense of Food Safety and Quality ownership on the production floor.
  • Train and develop subordinates in the performance of their duties.
  • Manage plant timelines and critical milestones for the Food Safety and Quality Improvement Plan, as well as other food safety/quality metrics such as complaint reduction, quality incident reduction, and quality index scores.
  • Interpret, analyze, and communicate quality and food safety issues, both internal and external (consumer complaints), and take appropriate corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agency requirements, including USDA, FDA, CFIA, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison with local USDA and FDA inspectors and other food regulatory officers that visit the plant.
  • Provide leadership in compliance with food safety and quality programs, such as implementing and maintaining HACCP to regulatory and company requirements, maintaining SQF certification, establishing specifications for raw and finished materials, maintaining a recall program, implementing an environmental monitoring program, and overseeing a comprehensive pest control program.
  • Develop corrective actions when Food Safety or Quality deficiencies are identified.
  • Act as a liaison for all technical and quality control issues between the operations, RQI, and sales/marketing departments.
  • Assist the Corporate office with quality assurance matters involving vendor issues, including improvements and corrective measures.
  • Oversee product quality during the implementation and introduction of new products into the market, ensuring the use of applicable MOPD and CQV tools.
