Quality Control Technician

Location: Sanborn, NY

Inspect manufacturing processes and products, utilizing various measuring instruments and techniques, to ensure compliance with standards. Assist in the management of the company's quality management system to meet ISO 9001 requirements.

Essential Duties of the Position

Quality Control

Inspections

  • Perform manual (hand tools) or CMM inspections for product verification
  • Conduct random inspections for operators
  • Comply with customer and company inspection and testing requirements
  • Coordinate and execute inspection and buyoff activities
  • Train and advise operators on inspection techniques and requirements
  • Perform calibration and maintenance of measurement and test equipment
  • Calibrate employee-owned tools according to guidelines

Quality Assurance

Quality System

  • Maintain the quality system to meet ISO accreditation requirements
  • Develop and analyze quality reporting measures
  • Conduct internal quality audits
  • Design and implement methods for process control, improvement, testing, and inspection

Documentation and Quality Plans

  • Provide quality resource to supervisors for problem identification and resolution
  • Develop and apply quality requirements and standards for products
  • Create and execute quality plans, test methodology, documents, and reports
  • Maintain and supply necessary certifications

Corrective Actions

  • Administer the corrective action system
  • Respond to customer corrective action requests
  • Request supplier corrective actions when necessary
  • Promote continuous improvement

Other

  • Ability to follow work order instructions, read blueprints, and understand geometric tolerances
  • Perform miscellaneous duties and participate in training as assigned
  • Maintain work area and routine maintenance
  • Proper and safe use of material handling equipment
  • Adherence to company safety rules

Experience

Minimum of two years of experience in quality or related area.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required

  • Proficiency in using manufacturing measurement and test equipment
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, tolerancing, and geometric tolerancing
  • Knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques, and documentation
  • Understanding of statistics and statistical process control
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and its application/auditing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer technology
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Good time management
  • Ability to work well in a team setting
  • Positive and diplomatic attitude
