Chemical Manufacturing Quality Manager - Peoria, IL

The Quality Manager is responsible for achieving zero injuries, zero process incidents, zero distribution incidents, and zero environmental incidents. They will oversee and develop process and quality control functions and be a member of the site Leadership Team. Additionally, they will maintain and review laboratory records in compliance with ISO 9001 and EFfCI standards.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance feedback to all members of the Quality Control and Process Improvement teams. Set goals for direct reports and conduct annual performance reviews while prioritizing the development of all team members.

  • Direct quality assurance activities to ensure ongoing compliance and certification with ISO 9001 and EFfCI Standards. Oversee quality control activities to ensure the delivery of quality products, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction in accordance with ISO 9001 and EFfCI requirements. Act as the quality representative during ISO 9001, EFfCI, and customer audits.

  • Oversee quality control activities to ensure the production of quality products, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction in compliance with ISO and EFfCI requirements.

  • Collaborate with others to determine root causes and resolve quality issues and customer complaints.

  • Capture and report Mapleton's key performance indicators (KPIs), such as First-Time-Right (FTR) and Customer Complaints.

  • Ensure customer complaints and corrective actions are handled according to procedure and resolved promptly.

  • Provide a visible commitment to quality by being present and accessible throughout the site. Regularly communicate the importance of quality and represent quality during operation and facility changes. Lead the monthly Quality Council meeting to track progress.

  • Demonstrate Quality Leadership by collaborating with site leaders to lead the Annual Quality Management Review and identify continuous improvement opportunities and goals for the upcoming year. Report KPIs and lead the monthly Quality Council to monitor the progress of implemented actions for various quality issues, such as Cost of Quality and Cpk.

  • Monitor adherence to the quality program by periodically reviewing work instructions, methods, documents, records, and data. Identify areas for improvement within the Quality department and provide approval for Quality procedures. Ensure accurate data maintenance and accuracy in the quality management system. Ensure accuracy of Management of Change Procedures (MCPs) for the site in accordance with internal procedures. Conduct tasks in accordance with appropriate standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5 to 15 years of experience in quality management within the chemical manufacturing industry. An engineering degree is highly desirable....

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to facilitate discussions with internal stakeholders.

  • Strong organization and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience managing medium to large, complex, and/or multiple jobs concurrently.

  • Proficiency in Windows-based PC programs, such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.

  • Understanding of quality management in the chemical industry.

  • Experience in developing and maintaining quality assurance and quality control systems.

  • Experience in managing regulatory and third-party audits.

  • Ability to provide leadership in the area of quality and food safety.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate team members.

  • Certification in HACCP and Internal Auditor.

  • Understanding of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA, SQF Code, and Food Safety regulations.

  • High level of confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
