Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager of Regulatory Affairs for Research and Development to join our team in Boston, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and labeling for our products, ensuring they meet all applicable regulations, laws, and standards in the markets we serve. We are looking for someone with strong regulatory expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. As the internal expert for food regulations, you will play a key role in our company's success.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure full compliance with laws and regulations in the countries where our products are sold.
- Lead the development and implementation of labeling and packaging graphics, ensuring they align with legal requirements and our branding strategies.
- Manage the approval of ingredients, formulas, and labeling specifications using our formula management system (DevEx).
- Provide guidance on regulatory requirements for new products or updates to existing products to internal teams such as R&D, Marketing, and Quality.
- Identify and resolve strategic and tactical regulatory issues related to food labeling.
- Engage with external trade associations and professional organizations to stay informed about regulatory and legislative changes affecting our industry.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regulatory affairs and labeling team.
- Stay updated on global regulatory trends, guidelines, and legislative changes relevant to our industry.
- Provide insights to senior management on regulatory trends and ensure proactive adaptation to regulatory changes.
- Prioritize and promote a culture of safety within the organization.
Food Safety Responsibilities
This role is responsible for ensuring label content compliance, including allergens.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise employees in the Research and Development Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

- Strong experience in developing packaging artwork for nutrition facts panels, claims, and labeling requirements for food products.
- Thorough knowledge of FDA food labeling regulations and general understanding of the regulatory landscape impacting the food industry. International regulatory knowledge is a plus.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking ability.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and formula management programs (e.g., DevEx).
- Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead small teams.
- Self-motivated and proactive in staying informed about changes in regulations and industry trends.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management.
Education and Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, or a related field. Master's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Experience: 7-10 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the food industry, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership position
