Real Estate Lawyer – Commercial Deals & Property Usage

About Our Client

Our client is a reputable real estate development company specializing in commercial real estate deals, land use approvals, and zoning variances. They collaborate with municipalities, investors, and legal experts to see projects through from inception to fruition. They are in need of an experienced Real Estate Lawyer to manage property acquisitions, lease negotiations, municipal approvals, entitlements, and regulatory adherence.

Job Description

• Oversee commercial real estate transactions, including crafting and negotiating purchase agreements, leases, financing documents, and closing paperwork.
• Handle land use and zoning approvals, such as variances, site plan approvals, and municipal permits.
• Represent the company before zoning boards, planning commissions, and other governmental bodies.
• Conduct due diligence on real estate deals, including reviewing titles, environmental assessments, and zoning compliance verifications.
• Provide guidance on regulatory compliance to ensure projects align with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with external legal counsel on land use disputes, zoning appeals, and real estate litigation.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in NJ and in good standing with the bar (NY license is a bonus).
• 7+ years of experience in commercial real estate law, land use, or zoning.
• Demonstrated ability to secure zoning approvals, variances, and entitlements.
• Strong skills in contract negotiation and real estate transactions.
• Experience working with developers, municipal agencies, and real estate professionals.
• Familiarity with environmental compliance, easements, and title issues is advantageous.
