NIGHT SHIFT: 7p-7a, alternating weekends and holidays

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct care to patients. The Nurse works collaboratively with patients, family members, peers, doctors, and other healthcare team members to deliver high-quality healthcare services. Their responsibilities include assessing patient needs, planning and implementing care, evaluating medical and nursing regimens, and adhering to the hospital's philosophy, policies, and standards. The Nurse must demonstrate leadership skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth.

This position includes the following essential functions and responsibilities:

  1. Understands and follows the Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors of the hospital.
  2. Uses the nursing process to meet the specific needs of patients in various aspects of care, including physical, psychological, educational, safety/environmental, and discharge planning.
  3. Makes appropriate decisions regarding patient care and unit-based issues by following the decision-making process and prioritizing tasks.
  4. Collaborates and communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  5. Incorporates patient rights and nursing ethics into their work practice.
  6. Adheres to infection control standards to minimize the risk of infections to patients and staff.
  7. Complies with the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  8. Delegates tasks to ancillary staff in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act.
  9. Adheres to the ANA Code of Nursing Ethics and Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  10. Supports, promotes, and practices within the Professional Nursing Practice Model of the hospital.
  11. Continuously upholds and advances the Magnet model.
  12. Participates in initiatives for performance improvement.
  13. Completes competency requirements.
  14. Attends mandatory in-services.
  15. Attends staff meetings as required/requested.
  16. Follows cost containment practices.
  17. Takes on the responsibility of Charge Nurse when necessary.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

1. Graduated from an accredited nursing school and holds a valid New York RN license/registration.
2. All RNs are required to have a BSN.
3. RNs hired prior to 1/1/18 must obtain their BSN (or MSN) by 12/31/21.
5. Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing, medical, and health trends and practices in patient care.
6. Minimum of two years of experience in acute care nursing, specifically in the CTICU.
7. Must have BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
8. ACLS certification from the American Heart Association is required for all RNs as of January 1st, 2017.
9. PALS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
