Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
Summary of the Safety and Environmental Compliance Engineer: The Safety and Environmental Compliance Engineer is responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of safety programs and compliance with ISO standards. This role ensures adherence to safety protocols, minimizes risks, and meets ISO standards. The engineer collaborates with various departments to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Qualifications of the Safety and Environmental Compliance Engineer:
- Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Investigate and document workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, and assist in developing corrective action plans.
- Provide safety training and education to employees to ensure awareness and adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain and update safety records and documentation.
- Assist in designing and delivering engaging safety training programs, workshops, and seminars for employees.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify specific safety training needs and customize programs accordingly.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of safety training programs and suggest improvements as needed.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute to discussions on safety improvements and initiatives.
- Assist in developing and implementing emergency response plans and conducting regular drills.
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of ISO compliance programs to ensure the organization meets ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in collaborating with external auditors and certification bodies during ISO certification and surveillance audits.
- Stay updated on ISO standards and regulations and communicate changes to relevant stakeholders.
- Prepare and maintain documentation required for ISO compliance, including policies, procedures, and records.
Responsibilities of the Safety and Environmental Compliance Engineer:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in safety administration and ISO compliance.
- Exposure to environmental and quality.
- In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and ISO standards.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, ASP) and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate employees.
- Proficient in using safety management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
