Sales and Use Tax Senior
Location: Dallas, TX
A north Dallas based client (Lewisville) is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Tax Accountant for a HYBRID 3/2 opportunity. In this role, you will have the chance to make a significant impact as the Company formalizes its tax policies and procedures. Reporting to the Indirect Tax Director, you will provide comprehensive tax insight and support throughout the project lifecycle, from pursuits to operations and post-construction activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of fundamental sales and use tax regulations, exceptional analytical abilities, and a proactive problem-solving approach.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis to ensure accurate handling of purchase or sales transactions in relation to sales and use tax. Collaborate closely with procurement to prepare certificates for vendors.
- Collaboration: Foster close collaboration with various departments, including accounting, finance, billing, and procurement, to gather the necessary information and support our subsidiaries regarding sales and use tax matters.
- Audit/Notice Support: Assist with tax audits by collecting required documentation, responding to inquiries, and addressing any identified issues. Coordinate with third parties for outsourced audits and work closely with jurisdictions to promptly address notices.
- Compliance Management: Ensure accurate and timely filing of sales and use tax returns in all relevant jurisdictions. Collaborate with our third-party provider for the preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
- Internal Controls: Collaborate with internal resources to develop and implement effective internal controls and procedures related to sales and use tax, minimizing company risk. Assist with internal audits to verify appropriate tax handling in projects.
- Process Improvement: Work alongside tax leadership to identify opportunities for streamlining processes and improving efficiencies within the sales and use tax function. Participate in the strategic development of procurement and billing procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of professional experience in U.S. sales and use tax compliance and/or consulting
- Strong knowledge of basic sales and use tax laws and regulations
- Self-disciplined, motivated, able to work with limited direct supervision, self-sufficient problem solver
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- An unwavering dedication to continual process improvement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience with tax research tools (i.e. CCH, Checkpoint, TTR, BNA etc.) is advantageous
- Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CMI certification
