Transportation Engineering Railroad Sales Director

Location: Omaha, NE

Our client is seeking a seasoned Sales Director who specializes in transportation and railroad industries to lead and expand our portfolio of Engineering, Digital, and IT services within the railroad sector. This position requires an in-depth understanding of railroad operations and engineering, along with a proven track record in driving large-scale engineering projects, managing cross-functional teams, and engaging with CIO organizations and other key stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leadership in Engineering & Digital Services: Lead large teams of engineers and IT professionals, focusing on collaboration with CIO organizations, specifically in IT/Digital Services, ERP, and Systems Integration (SI), with a particular emphasis on the railroad industry.
  • Project Management: Supervise and execute complex business transactions, including defining and scoping engineering projects, assisting in high-scale staffing and recruitment, and establishing relationships with local staffing agencies to acquire specialized skills.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with internal teams and clients to oversee proposal efforts, defining the project approach, schedule, and cost to deliver value to clients.
  • Detailed Project Planning: Facilitate comprehensive project planning, encompassing all aspects of scope, cost, schedule, risk, and technical performance, ensuring clear-cut outcomes from initiation to completion.
  • Project Performance Management: Supervise internal team performance by balancing scope, cost, and schedule to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Client Relationship Management: Act as the main contact point for clients throughout project execution, providing regular performance assessments, managing risks, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Technical Support and Supervision: Provide technical oversight and support throughout project execution, and manage activities of cross-functional teams, including direct supervision of team members.
  • Quality and Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant Quality Systems, industry regulations, and applicable government standards.
  • Communication & Presentation: Effectively communicate with clients and team members using strong presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Management from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 15+ years of overall experience.
    • At least 10+ years in sales within CIO organizations, with 5-8 years specifically in the railroad sector or within service organizations supporting railroad operations.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and work collaboratively across teams.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Project, and other business/project management tools).
    • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills for effective client interactions.
