Technical Sales Engineer

Location: Hartford, CT

We are currently hiring for the position of Technical Sales Engineer at our Hartford, CT location. The main responsibility of this role is to sell service agreements and small projects to our existing customer base within a defined sales territory. The successful candidate will also assist with project coordination and work closely with customers, service technicians, and management to meet the needs of our Service Agreement clients.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Sell service agreements and small projects to current customers of Alerton Controls.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as sales engineers, service technicians, finance, accounting, engineering, and operations.
  • Oversee subcontractors and suppliers to guarantee project completion and quality.
  • Master the use of estimating tools, proposal forms, and sales forecasting reports.
  • Create and deliver project proposals and related documents to customers using ABS format.
  • Manage sales reporting, including monthly sales opportunities/quotes, bookings, and annual service agreement renewals.
  • Coordinate pricing and negotiations with subcontractors regarding scope of work.
  • Participate in job turnover meetings with engineering and operations teams for newly acquired projects.
  • Stay up to date with technical details of Alerton Controls product line and related HVAC and building automation technologies.
  • Engage with professional organizations within the HVAC industry (BOMA, ASHRAE, EEI, etc.).

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Service Sales Engineering/Account Management.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Thorough knowledge of HVAC systems and building automation controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Highly motivated with a professional and customer-focused mindset.
