Sodium Manager

Location: Cleveland, OH

As a Sodium Manager in Cleveland, OH, you will be responsible for overseeing technical reviews of complex state and local tax returns. You will showcase your efficiency in handling tasks from start to finish, providing recommendations to enhance client results, and applying innovative tax strategies to drive client development and growth. This role requires managing multiple client engagements across various industries while delivering exceptional client service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting research on state tax matters, such as nexus determinations, taxability analysis, and quantification of potential liabilities.
  • Reviewing state and local tax returns and filings for C-corporations, S-corporations, and partnerships.
  • Performing state tax planning and consulting, including estimates, projections, and assistance with state tax notices.
  • Assisting multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, conducting research, and preparing written protests.
  • Utilizing analytical skills to address state compliance issues, including apportionment and state modifications.
  • Supporting with the state implications of tax legislation.
  • Preparing ruling requests and responding to state and local tax notices.
  • Maintaining regular communication with clients to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a preference for a Master's in Tax.
  • A CPA or JD qualification.
  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting, specifically reviewing and managing business and individual income tax returns in a public accounting firm.
  • The ability to effectively manage client engagements and relationships.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, demanding work environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exemplary leadership abilities.
