Sodium Manager

Location: Cleveland, OH

As a Sodium Manager, your responsibilities will involve the technical review of complex tax returns for state and local jurisdictions. You will showcase your efficiency by successfully handling tasks from start to finish, offering recommendations to improve client outcomes, and implementing innovative tax strategies to foster client growth and development. This role requires managing multiple client engagements across various industries and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on state tax matters, including determining nexus, analyzing taxability, and quantifying potential liabilities.
  • Review state and local tax returns for C-corporations, S-corporations, and partnerships.
  • Provide state tax planning and consulting services, including estimates, projections, and assistance with notices from state tax authorities.
  • Guide multi-state companies through state and local tax disputes, conducting research and drafting written protests.
  • Apply analytical skills to address state compliance issues, such as apportionment and state modifications.
  • Assist with understanding the state implications of tax legislation.
  • Prepare ruling requests and handle state and local tax notices.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to effectively manage their expectations and ensure their satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting; Master's in Tax preferred
  • CPA or JD qualification
  • 7+ years of experience in public accounting, including reviewing and managing business and individual income tax returns at a public accounting firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client engagements and build strong relationships.
  • Experience excelling in a fast-paced, highly demanding work environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Independent problem-solving ability, strategic and creative thinking skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Exemplary leadership qualities.
