Sanitation Supervisor
We are a well-known company seeking a skilled Sanitation Supervisor to join our team and help us meet the needs of our customers nationwide. This position will report to the Production Manager and be based in the Indianapolis, Indiana area. The majority of the work will be on day shift, but flexibility is required to support off-hours and weekends. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing sanitation and pest control operations within the facility. They will provide support to the plant sanitation team in areas such as chemical use, cleaning processes, sanitation equipment, valve function, and design. The supervisor will also establish standards for cleaning equipment maintenance, implement sanitation assurance projects, and oversee pest control and regulatory compliance programs. We offer competitive benefits and a bonus eligibility of 10%. Vacation days accrue monthly, with the option to use them prior to accruing, and a total of 21 days can be taken. Additionally, our 401k program includes a dollar-for-dollar match of up to 6% of your contribution, with an additional 3% company contribution for a total of 9%.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a sanitation strategy at the plant level by setting long-term goals, utilizing available resources, and achieving targets.
- Coordinate and implement sanitation operations in the plant, including managing all sanitation control measures.
- Engage team members to improve processes while ensuring adherence to safety guidelines, GMPs, and plant policies.
- Monitor sanitation costs and manage the department as a business, including developing the annual budget for the department.
- Provide training to the sanitation department and other departments on sanitation practices.
- Oversee third-party contract services for sanitation chemicals, pest control, and uniforms.
- Coordinate monthly internal audits at the plant and lead efforts to address any findings.
- Empower direct reports to take on new challenges, solve complex projects, and expand their skills.
- Lead and document department training, post-operational inspections, ATP results, sanitation chemical titrations, daily sanitation operation sheets, and the master sanitation schedule.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED, with a preference for a bachelor's degree (a bachelor's degree is required if no previous management or supervisory experience in sanitation)
- At least 5 years of experience leading high-performance teams and engaging team members to drive improvement
- At least 3 years of experience in sanitation, with some of that time in a managerial role
- Experience with CIP systems and wet cleaning is a must
- Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis to address operational issues and reduce downtime
- Working knowledge of the Six Step Cleaning Process
- Ability to work off-shifts and weekends as needed
