Commercial Construction Coordinator

Requirements and Expertise:

This is a senior-level role that involves leading either large commercial projects or small projects and taking charge of scheduling responsibilities. The candidate will be responsible for gathering and analyzing project information, and creating comprehensive documents that help eliminate design inconsistencies and problems, while enhancing the efficiency of project planning and scheduling. They will collaborate with the project team and trade partners to develop detailed schedules, and monitor projects based on established schedules and departmental procedures. The role will also involve inputting, analyzing, and monitoring design, procurement, and construction schedules. The candidate will generate internal and external reports that provide updates on project status. Successful execution of the job will require the application of planning, scheduling, and cost techniques and methods, based on the level of experience, and will involve substantial evaluation, analysis, and modification of such standards to resolve problems.

  • Excellent prioritization and organizational skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using ERP cost management tools.
  • Expertise in working with Primavera 6.
  • Familiarity with programs such as Excel and Word.
  • Well-rounded knowledge in construction disciplines.
  • Prior experience of 7-10 years in industrial or commercial construction is mandatory.
  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Scheduler will be responsible for overseeing all project scheduling activities in assigned projects. They will rely on their expertise in schedule development and the construction industry to create a schedule that accurately represents the project's requirements.

  • Produce initial schedules based on their own knowledge for the project team to discuss and refine.
  • Ideal candidate will possess strong scheduling and 3D modeling skills.
  • Maintain a database of estimated schedule durations for activities and overall project durations.
  • Create the baseline schedule by properly sequencing work activities.
  • Supervise all project scheduling activities and provide necessary updates, forecasts, and reports.
  • Develop project schedule layouts in collaboration with the project team, and create alternate schedules and progress measurement plans.
  • Review and evaluate monthly updates to the schedule from Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Authenticate that the updates accurately represent the progress of work.
  • Understand the project's flow and logistics requirements.
  • Support ongoing projects by working closely with the project manager and discipline leads, and provide updates on project status, identify improvement opportunities, delays, and areas that require additional attention.
  • Recommend alternate plans to ensure the project remains on track.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the project management team.
