Construction Scheduler

Skills and Experience:

As a senior-level position, the individual will have the opportunity to serve as a lead on either large commercial projects or small projects, taking charge of scheduling responsibilities. The main responsibilities include assembling and analyzing project information and preparing comprehensive documents that help eliminate design discrepancies and problems, while also improving the overall planning and scheduling efficiency of projects. The individual will collaborate with the project team and trade partners to create detailed schedules, monitoring projects based on set schedules according to departmental procedures. In addition, the role entails input, analysis, and monitoring of design deliverables, procurement, and construction schedules. The individual will generate internal and external reports that provide updates on project status. The job necessitates applying planning/scheduling and cost techniques and methods, requiring substantial evaluation, analysis, and adjustment of such standards in order to solve problems.

  • Strong working knowledge of ERP cost management tools.
  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera 6.
  • Working knowledge of programs such as Excel and Word.
  • Well-rounded base of knowledge in construction disciplines.
  • 7-10 years of prior industrial or commercial construction experience is required.
  • B.S. Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Administration preferred.

Essential Job Duties:

The Project Scheduler assumes responsibility for overseeing all project-scheduling activities related to assigned projects. They will create a schedule based on their expertise in schedule development and the construction industry.

  • Create conceptual schedules independently, which will be further improved and refined with input from the project team.
  • Preferably seeking candidates who excel in both scheduling and 3D modeling.
  • Maintain a database of probable schedule durations by activities, as well as overall durations.
  • Create the initial overall schedule using well-defined and properly sequenced work activities.
  • Supervise all project scheduling activities and provide necessary status updates, forecasts, and reports.
  • Develop project schedule layouts in collaboration with the project team, alternative schedules, and progress measurement of the schedule.
  • Review and evaluate monthly schedule updates submitted by Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure that the updates accurately represent the completed work.
  • Understand the flow and logistics required for project execution.
  • Support ongoing projects by working closely with the project manager and discipline leads to assess project status, identify opportunities for improvement, address delays, and determine areas requiring extra attention.
  • Propose alternative plans to keep the project on track.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by project management.
