What is a Speech-language pathology Assistant?

As a support personnel, Speech-language pathology Assistants assist certified speech-language pathologists by carrying out prescribed tasks after completing academic coursework, fieldwork, and on-the-job training.

Responsibilities:

Deliver life-changing treatment and support to individuals, including children and adults, who struggle with communication, eating, drinking, and swallowing. You will assist those who experience difficulties speaking and communicating for physical or psychological reasons.

Your duties may also involve educating staff on the benefits of speech therapy.

License or Certification:
Must possess a current SLPA certificate by the first day of employment.
Other required certifications include CPR, TB skin test, Auto Insurance, and Driver License.

Education, Training, and Experience:

Minimum requirement: Completion of an associate degree or graduation from a Speech-Language Pathology assistant certificate program.
Prior experience is preferred but not mandatory.
