Overview: The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst position involves overseeing plant inventory valuation, assisting corporate accounting operations, ensuring inventory accuracy, analyzing standard costs, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. This role requires close collaboration with plant operations, engineering, and purchasing to develop, review, and maintain standard costs. The Senior Cost Accounting Analyst will work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, new product development, and finance departments to provide timely information on inventory cost and accuracy, while also maintaining item master accuracy.
Requirements: The ideal candidate for the Senior Cost Accounting Analyst position should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, at least 6 years of progressive accounting experience (including GL, reporting, costing, and public accounting), flexibility to work extended hours during month-end and year-end close, and a background in manufacturing/assembly/distribution. Experience with the Infor XA system and CPA certification are advantageous but not required. Additionally, the candidate should have experience with month-end close processes, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Responsibilities: The main responsibilities of the Senior Cost Accounting Analyst include performing inventory valuations and reserve calculations, collaborating with Operations and Purchasing for setting standard costs, performing cost-volume-profit analysis, reconciling inventory and related accounts, and recommending process and policy changes to reduce costs and maximize profits. Other responsibilities include owning the capitalized variance calculation, conducting the annual physical inventory and developing cycle count processes, reviewing item master accuracy, conducting pricing and margin analysis, monitoring inventory transactions for errors, assisting with business acquisitions and system integrations, resolving inventory valuation and purchase price issues, performing month-end close duties, developing gross margin reporting, supporting audits, implementing internal controls, participating in system enhancements and integrations, and interacting with internal and external stakeholders for reporting and ad hoc requests.
